Spotlight Tonight MARRY ME FILMS

"At the end of the day, it is all about the commitment between two people and that’s what is most important."

It gives me great pleasure to introduce tonight's Specialist SPOTLIGHT, husband and wife team Sara & Tony Williams of Marry Me Films. With an evident passion for creating modish magical memories, Sara shares her top tips on what to look for when commissioning the film makers of your dreams....

The Wedding Film of Kelly & Matthew from Marry Me Films on Vimeo.

"It is with some trepidation and excitement that I start our first ever blog, never mind guest blog! Firstly we are very pleased and honoured to have been asked by Bespoken Dreams to write about wedding films, as we love filming weddings.

Let me introduce ourselves, we are Sara & Tony Williams, husband and wife for over 12 years and owners of Marry Me Films. We are wedding film makers not videographers, and if you are wondering why we make this distinction then let me explain. Unfortunately wedding videography has deservedly, some might say, got a terrible reputation. Admittedly there are some terrible cheesy video companies out there and as a result, a lot of Brides & Grooms dismiss the idea of having their wedding filmed straight way, which is a real shame. A wedding film is the perfect way to capture one the biggest days of your life. When executed well, wedding films should provoke powerful emotions, whether viewing post honeymoon or at the 25th wedding anniversary, and not simply be just a record of the day. They should propel you right back into the moment, make you smile, laugh, cry, and evoke all the emotion and memories of your special day. The actual day will fly by in the blink of an eye and there will be lots of cherished moments that may be unseen by the Bride & Groom or forgotten in the whirlwind of the day.

At Marry Me Films we strive to enhance this experience by taking the time to produce a memorable film that captures all of the above, is creative, interestingly edited, re-watchable and stands the test of time. Like any good broadcast programme the wedding film has to capture all the important moments whilst being interesting and entertaining. What we feel is paramount is to capture the interaction between the Bride & Groom and the emotion of the day. We know we have achieved this when our Bride & Grooms’, their family and friends, and even potential clients at wedding shows cry watching our highlights trailers. We hope that we are slowly changing the perception about wedding videography by bringing broadcast quality to wedding films. You never know, one day maybe wedding films will be as popular and central to everyone’s wedding days as photography.

 Unobtrusive Filming
It is important to keep filming discreet and unobtrusive. We do this by having years of experience in filming both weddings and television programmes using high spec broadcast equipment. Wedding film companies should be able to creatively capture the whole of your special day without unnecessarily drawing attention to themselves; blending seamlessly with the guests and venue. Some of the most natural and best footage happens when people don’t realise they are being filmed. Our overall aim is to beautifully and expertly film one of the happiest days of most people’s lives, not to be part of it.

Pre-Wedding Planning Meeting
An in-depth pre-wedding planning meeting to discuss timings of the day is vital. A good wedding film company will always familiarise themselves with your wedding venue so that they are comfortable with the surroundings. Flexibility is also key; being adaptive to any situation that may occur on the day. A professional, positive attitude and appearance is equally important.

Reflecting Your Personality
What we feel makes a good wedding film company is the ability to reflect the couple’s personality. Every couple we film is different, so every wedding film we produce is unique; from the cool contemporary to the utterly traditional. We take the time to meet our Bride & Grooms’, talk to them and find out what makes them both tick, so we can create a wedding film that perfectly suits them and truly is one of a kind.

Your Soundtrack
The music is a big factor in deciding how the wedding film will feel as it is so personal and emotive. We ask all our couples to choose a selection of music in various tempos before their wedding day, which acts as a guide to the style their wedding will be filmed and edited in. We also incorporate and reflect the atmosphere and sentiment of the day itself.

Our USP
We are different from other companies in our field because as a husband and wife team we have walked in the shoes of a Bride & Groom and we know just how important weddings are. Our intimate, personalised, diligent and caring service ensures that the very highest of standards are achieved in every aspect of our wedding films. Working freelance in the television industry on a wide range of programme types and styles, enables us to keep abreast of the latest methods and techniques from broadcast programmes keeping us fresh, creative and forward looking. Being BBC trained means that everything is filmed to the highest standards and right in one take, because at weddings there’s never a second take. At Marry Me Films we are so confident that we will get it right first time that we don’t charge for changes. We have very high standards and take great pride in everything we produce; we love the sense of achievement we feel when our Bride & Grooms’ take the time to thank us and tell us how special their wedding film is. We are very lucky to have such fantastic clients and their generosity towards our work, never ceases to amaze us.
We have had the pleasure and privilege over the past few years to be part of some fantastic weddings and we have some very exciting ones booked in for the next few years too. Amazing venues all over the country, different types of ceremonies and celebrations and even a Groom arriving by helicopter, but at the end of the day whatever happens it is all about the commitment between two people and that’s what is most important."

Breakfast at Tiffany's is Fifty!

Old School Glamour for 2011...

“You could always tell what kind of a person a man thinks you are by the earrings he gives you."
Holly Golightly - Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Breakfast at Tiffany’s was the order of the day for our recent Christmas holiday.  Escaping the ice and snow en route to Heathrow, we checked in and tucked in to birthday danish’s and coffee a la Holly Golightly, opposite TIFFANY & Co. as we waited to board.

As Mr. Dreams frequently checked for the passports and tickets, in the spirit of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I frequently checked out my new sparkly diamonds in each proud ear.  Dontcha just love birthdays!  The theme continued on the flight.  As Mr. Dreams was in pleasant dreams, I indulged in 115 delicious minutes of Holly, Paul/Fred, Cat and Moon River.  And plenty of Old School Glamour (yes, even in economy).

During the holiday we had the pleasure to meet American Artist and Sculptor, Bill Mack (www.billmack.com)  A noted collector of rare and unusual memorabilia, renowned artist Bill Mack purchased the original HOLLYWOOD sign in 2007 and used the metal facing from the sign as canvas on which he painted the likeness of the great ‘movie stars’ from the Golden Years of Hollywood, including iconic legend, Audrey Hepburn.

So, in my Caribbean chilled out state, I had plenty of lazy days to daydream of a favourite wedding theme of mine, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  Enjoy...

Add a splash of colour to your gown with The Peeptoe Glass Slipper in 'Jade' - Full Encrusting

Arrive in style in a New York City Cab

Translate this look to your venue (art galleries, ballrooms) with black and white framed photographs, crystal trees, candelabras, a silent movie projector, and a table plan tree holding guest names and film quotes.  The Tiffany signature box filled with confectionery will complete the look!

Personalise it: Engagement shoots with wedding photographers are proving very popular.  Why not use Breakfast at Tiffany's inspired black and white shots of you both to hang around your reception?  Go dig out your tiara and pearls!

Fab Idea: Walk down the aisle to Moon River...

What better way to celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary this year…

And last but not least, my favourite quotes.  A fun idea for a table plan!

“I've got to do something about the way I look. I mean a girl just can't go to Sing Sing with a green face”

“That's right. I'm just CRAZY about Tiffany's!”

“I'll tell you one thing, Fred, darling... I'd marry you for your money in a minute. Would you marry me for my money?”

“Did I tell you how divinely and utterly happy I am?”

“You could always tell what kind of a person a man thinks you are by the earrings he gives you. I must say, the mind reels”

“A girl can't read that sort of thing without her lipstick”

“Promise me one thing: don't take me home until I'm drunk - very drunk indeed”

“Anyone who ever gave you confidence, you owe them a lot”

“It's better to look at the sky than live there. Such an empty place; so vague. Just a country where the thunder goes and things disappear”

“I don't think I've ever drunk champagne before breakfast before. With breakfast on several occasions, but never before, before”

What Type of Bride Are YOU?

So much choice, where do you start
Now you’ve said yes to your sweetheart
You’ve answered the question, now answer this too:
Really, what type of bride are YOU?

A Jesus Peiro or a Maggie Sottero
Or is Vera Wang more of your thang
Nope I knew it, you’re an Ian Stuart
Or maybe it seems, a Hollywood Dreams...

Do the rails at Marchesa dazzle and amaze ya
Is your bridal fantasy a Candy Anthony
Celebrate your hourglass in a Pronovias
Or party and revel in a Suzanne Neville

Be the Lady of the Manor in an Alan Hannah
Or embody a love song in Philip Armstrong
Louboutin, Gina, Jimmy Choo
Valentino, Gucci, perhaps Mui Mui

Vintage, Modern, Traditional, Chic
Or is Glamour & Glitz flavour of the week
Fairytale, Opulent or Elegant Romance
Is Boho or Fashionista more your dance?

Whatever muse you decide to choose
Rest assured you’ll be adored
No bride of mine is a Frankenstein
I promise you’ll shimmy, sparkle and shine!

Inspiring Mood Boards - Ballerina Bridal Fashion

A belated Happy New Year to you, from all at Dreams HQ!

After a month long party of cocktail dresses, high heels and holidays, I’m pleased to be back to normality and ready to embrace the dreaded NYR's.  Apart from the usual wine and chocolate ban, (which I’ve severely broken already), I’m SO looking forward to my pledge for Mr. Dreams and I to frequent our local cinema much more. (Our visits often involve and pre glass of wine and a humongous bag of Malteesers, but hey ho).

So, how better to gracefully tip-toe 'en-pointe' into 2011 with the release of Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Vincent Cassel, released on Friday 21st January 2011. If the adulation of the film critics is to go by, be prepared to be overwhelmed by the overall beauty of the film and its costumes.  The psychological thriller plot set aside, this film promises to inspire 2011/12 brides with its aesthetically pleasing feast of feather accents, cinched waist corsets, tulle and tutus. Think Pretty Romance meets Tough Fashionista!

Laura and Kate Mulleavy of cult fashion label Rodarte  designed the costumes for Black Swan, taking ballet-inspired looks from the Barre to the Big Screen....and perhaps in your case, your BIG DAY?

One Life Ceremonies - Making Your Day Memorable

“One of the hardest things in life is having words in your heart that you can't utter."  I am a HUGE advocator of personalised weddings, especially with the use of poetry and words, so image my delight to discover One Life Ceremonies, a family business run by mother and daughter Maria and Laurra Nalty, based in Yorkshire.  Bespoken Dreams invited Maria and Laurra to guest blog and share with you their wonderful world of weddings and words!

"make it memorable"

"We do something that most people have never heard of... we write and conduct personal wedding (http://onelifeceremonies.co.uk/wedding-ceremony) , gay commitment (http://onelifeceremonies.co.uk/gay-commitment)  and wedding vow renewal (http://onelifeceremonies.co.uk/wedding-vow-renewal)  ceremonies.

Quite often when a couple get married or renew their wedding vows they use a standard script as set by the vicar or registrar, these tend to be fairly impersonal as they don’t have much room to make it your own. We offer a service which allows you to have the ceremony of your dreams by designing it around you as a couple and what you want. That means that your ceremony can include the words, vows, readings and music that you want – not that you have to have or that everybody else has!

We essentially start with a blank canvas and will work with you to find out exactly what you want as well as offering you ideas and inspiration along the way. Holding a One Life Wedding Ceremony is a perfect alternative to a civil wedding led by a registrar or a church wedding because it means that you can choose exactly what you want it to include and it can be as traditional or unconventional as you want.

One thing that truly sets us apart is that you can hold your wedding outside or in an unusual venue, it doesn’t have to be licensed for marriage, (the marriage legalities must held separately by a Registrar).

We offer two different wedding packages and have just launched a wedding vow writing service (http://onelifeceremonies.co.uk/wedding-vow-writing-service) as well, a great option if you’ve decided to include your own vows in your wedding but can’t put what you want to say into writing! This service is perfect for any couple even if you’re having a church service or one led by a Registrar; it’s a great way to make your ceremony that little bit more personal!"

For more information about our personal wedding ceremonies or wedding vow writing service please visit our website or contact us for more details:
